Hello folks. Have written before about this and received some good suggestions but none seemed to help. To recap. I have a Sept. 2003 Freelander 1.8. This misfiring, cutting out when hot started after I had to replace all the hoses and thermostat after a hose burst. It happens when I keep an even speed, for ex. going round a roundabout, uphill, downhill, bends or just crawling in traffic. So far I have cleaned all the plugs and sockets, removed the petrol pump and filter, cleaned it and changed the filter, removed and cleaned the throttle housing and throttle pos. sensor, would a fault here show up on the reader? Cleaned all the sensors except the ones I have replaced which are the idle air control sensor, Lamda sensor which had given a bad reading on the Torque program, camshaft pos. sensor, and temp. sensor which created chaos with the fans by turning them on full speed after about 15mins. If I stopped the engine then restarted, after about 5 mins they would come back on again and the temp gauge would drop to cold. Two days ago I put the old one back and since then the fans are back to normal. Coils and plugs were replaced in Aug 2019. No faults shown there on the reader. The Lamda sensor gets a line of green ticks when checked. The only fault I get now is P0340 pending fault Powertrain Camshaft Pos. sensor "A" Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor. I replaced the old one because the reader said it was faulty.. The downhill lamp comes on at odd times. If it is on and I stop the engine it can be gone after restarting or it can still be there. There is about 11 mm slack in the accel. cable. The cooling system has been bled a few times. Tickover can be high or it can also be normal but slightly uneven. Acceleration is good with no hesitations. Have checked under the gearlever gaiter for chafed wiring, all ok there but I did find something wrapped in gray foam with wires coming out, didn`t want to mess with that so left it alone , what could that have been? I haven`t touched the injectors yet as that is new ground for me being used to a carb. I have used contact cleaner successfuly on most places but would it damage the injectors if used to clean them? Have been struggling with this since early June and am about to throw in the towel and book the car into a workshop. Are there any more ideas out there before do. I did download the Rave manual but every time i try to open a page I get taken to Adobe`s website to upgrade. Hoping one day to enjoy driving.
