Torque by Ian Hawkins.

I used the free app but it was so good I bought the pro version. I reckon he deserves a few quid for making such a decent app.

I bought a wifi ELM327 device. Works on everything. iOS doesn't support the correct bluetooth profiles for a bluetooth-only ELM.
 
Same here much quicker for a basic check on most petrol cars than getting the pc out, my phone is an android and I leave the bluetooth dongle in the glovebox of the rangey so when somebody says they have engine light on its out with the old dongle and check it !
