Problem with my 70K 04 td4. I have read some of the previous posts and I'm thinking it may be an injector problem.

Went on a long run on the motorway sitting around 80ish, come upto and junction and the revs at tickover were at around 750 for a few seconds but then drop to around 500 and is very lumpy (though the wife seem to approve of the sensation) so lumpy almost feels like the whole car is moving. It feels lumpy/uncomfortable upto around 1750 to 2000revs when it smooths out and drives ok but as soon as I come to a junction its a case of left braking or holding the car on the handbrake and keeping the revs up to prevent the car from stalling (hasn't actually stalled yet but feels like its going too)

any ideas????

ps: no smoke - white, blue or black

The increased engine movement at idle may be causing a poor injector connection to fail which then gives the misfire/lumpy idle problem. I would remove each injector two pin plug and spray with a good quality electronics contact cleaner (e.g Maplins N.B no spam intended)

More thoughts: With the engine running roughly at idle you might try carefully wiggling the injector and sensor connections. If you're in luck you may notice a sudden improvement in the engine.

Check the throttle/accelerator position sensor and its connections for looseness (you'll need a torch and some contortions as its at the top of the pedal behind the dash)

If none of this helps then maybe you could take it to an independent who has a fault code reader.
Good luck.

Appears to be No.3 injector, went through the process of disconnecting the injectors one at a time. I've added some Wynns injector cleaner and I' crossing my fingers its going to come back to life.......

Hi - Just received a replacement injector for my TD4 from Eb?y. It was being sold as a TD4 injector. However all injectors I have seen advertised and fitted to my car has a part number of 0445 110 049 however the one I have received has a part number of 0445 110 130. I have search the web and only found from a dutch website that 0445 110 130 is BMW/Landrover and so is 0445 110 049 but do not list which models they are for. The injector looks the same but I wonder whether the injector size may differ ??? any help would be great before I start stripping my car and progress a refund via Paypal. thanks

replaced No.3 injector, misfire gone:), tickover smooth - but....when accelatering seems to be missing the top-end, goes flat - any ideas??? ps: home made injector puller had it out in 10mins.

oh and its a bit smokey (blueish/black in colour) put this down to a bit of carbon in the cylinder clearing out - never smokey before.
