I have a '97 Disco V8 3.9 and it has started developing a few problems.

It started to misfire on LPG but only after it had been running for 10 minutes or so. The misfire seems to have been getting worse over the last week or so, but by flicking back to petrol this seemed to fix the problem.

In the last few days though I have heard a loud clunk in the engine and lost power for a second or so, before the power coming back and it driving fine again. This has happened half a dozen times.

The last night it would not idle hardly at all. When stopping at junctions etc it would cut out or just idle at about 0.25.

Any ideas what is wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm a diesel guy, but if it runs alright on petrol but not on gas, the first thing I would want to check is, is the lpg getting through alright and consistently?

How you do that I'm sorry I don't know - I guess there will be some sort of solenoid valve to control fuel supply ???

Good luck

Dave

Sorry, did not make it clear...

The misfire at the moment just seems to be on gas, but the problem with it not idling is on petrol and gas.

check for airleaks! it will not take much for an engine running on lpg to start running rough.you need to make sure that it is not running on both gas and petrol at the same time due to a sticky solonoid which is a very common problem. the plugs,ht leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap must also be spot on or you will also have problems!

Ive had a very simular problem wi my V8 LPG.

Did the usual going down the new HT system.

Found the problem in the end......On the ignition amplifier(next to the coil) there is a plug with 3 wires going into it. The middle one (black i think) had been pushed out of the socket.

Pushed it back in and hey presto!!!!!

Now got another friggin problem but i hope this helps you out with yours
