Hi,

Still new to all this RR P38 stuff!!!

I appear to have a slight misfire at about 1250-1500rpm, if I put my foot down it smooths out but is present at the above engine speed.

The car has had new plugs but the leads look fairly old, prob origionals as the car has covered just under 70k.

Could this be my cause or do I need to look at soemthing else.

Cheers James

P38's really need good plugs and leads, genuine leads and NGK BPR6ES plugs are all you need.Best to sort it out quickly or it will put the fuel trims out of kilter.

Sounds like he had Platinum plugs - which were speced for the 99 on cars with Bosch injection. The Bpr6es are fine though, and alot cheaper. They dont last as long as the Platinum ones but in the past I've found that they will get so coked/corroded in place that they wreck the threads or snap off when you try to get them out.
If they are only a month old its probably the leads failing.

Get them from a main dealer, often the ones sold as OEM are VERY poor quality - worse than knackered old ones in some cases I have seen.
Worth paying a few quid more, you could always ask for some discount......
