I have to deal with this all the time. I investigate accidents for insurance companies. I get all the great jobs-liability disputes. They are always minor and frequently the story changes after the incident.

You must inform your insurance company of any incident, as it could come and bite you in the rear end at a later date, if somebody makes a claim that you didn't tell them about.

I have a BlackVue DR400HD dash cam fitted to my Freelander and trying to work out how to fit the rear camera I have as well.

Doing this work makes you very a very defensive driver!

If he's being an idiot, then id be claiming for personal injury too, stiff neck in the following days? Should cover any expenses you've had to pay out.
+1 on the dash cam, might get one for future events,

Although it looks like nothing there could be further damage hidden, few years ago someone went into the back of my Subaru in traffic, a few mph, looked like a cracked number plate and a scuff but took details anyway as it was dark, what had actually happened, the rear bumper had been pushed in, smashed everything behind and then popped back out looking perfect, boot floor, rear panel, bumper supports, was a right mess.
I know it's a defender so a little different but still, give it a good check over.
Did you take the details of the fender behind? For witness purposes? If he saw what happened your sorted.

If your going to buy a Dash cam its well worth checking out some of the reviews on techmoan.com. I bought one on impulse whilst scanning through Amazon and went for a cheapo one. I am now going to get a better quality one. They are handy things to have especially if you do a lot of mileage. (or have to drive here in France among these lunatics)
