I recently acquired some military doors from a friend for my 90. I purchased the lock mechanism to fit these but when it arrived i found out that it was the older style series one. These do fit however so i was just going to stick with these rather than send them back for the anti burst type. Or am i better off fitting the anti burst? These older style locks seem sturdy enough and very simple, ive searched around but havent been able to find much information on them.
Cheers,
Dave

all doors sreies or defender will fit ,strikers are in different places though and need moving and replacing if you go down that route

Do your current doors have the 2-stage series striker or the early defender version with a grey-coloured peg? The series ones are known for opening when the body flexes i.e. on potholes and roundabouts, but that is usually down to bad alignment on the hinges, catch and striker.

I have the grey peg type on my 90 and don't have any problems although they do tend to chew the seatbelts and often need adjusting. I don't know the proper name but the catch looks like this:
LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 110 REAR END DOOR LATCH HANDLE ANTI-BURST - MUC1030 | eBay

My dad's 90 has the later anti-burst latches which I prefer. They don't require slamming like mine and don't catch the seatbelts either.
His shut onto this style catch:

If you have the series type then you will need to drill a hole (approx 20mm) in the door skin to take either of the later types because the lock barrel is in a different place.

I have the strikers for the push button handle type locks as this is what was on previously.
The locks and strikers ive bought are the same as the following pics.
They do fit but as i said is there any disadvantage with these locks over the anti burst type or will these do fine?

Only disadvantage is that the doors are easier to open by thieves..so make sure you have the disklok/clutch claw combo..i preferred series doors as you can take the door tops off for 8 minutes in the summer.
