Figured i would start this thread to keep track of my Disco 2 and everything thats happening with it.

Back story
The disco was my mums car due to be MOT'd but suspected it would fail she was getting rid so i took a gamble on it. So SORN it and parked it up...8 months later...Took it for the mot, failed on 2 tyres, no horn, fuel filter leak and rear pads. So got them all sorted and off we go.

First real drive was up to my workshop So i can start on some of the issues known...as we arrive i noticed steam out the engine, to find a hose has blown. Luckily could fix it until i got a spare, which is now changed over. Also changed the air filter...oh this was a site to see...pics to follow at the bottom

Is that your MAF covered in bugs???

Cheers

That would be a YES

That photo of the air filter..is how it was sat inside the box.
anything the engine sucked up was able to just bypass the filter.

going to give the MAF a clean out, possibly just replace for the cost of it.

Turbo over boost . A friend of mine bought a shogun and it would cut out at 60 I looked at it and concluded it was possibly sensor related or something pretty simple and not fuel pump 2200 pounds for that .Gulp . It went to one garage fuel pump he said I said no can't be so to diesel bobs he couldn't really decide but he went for fuel pump . Made no difference at all so he did his thing and sent turbo off and guess what fixed not a knackered blower just gummed up with crap and it was over boosting which made the ecu **** itself and say no you cant do that..It made sense as it had had a very easy life moving caravans around a yard and a short commute to work .Could this be your problem too I wonder .
