Anyone running memory map on a 7" tablet? I have the maps and I want to get a cheap tablet to use for walking as well as in the Defender (Christmas present) , I don't want to use an expensive one as it will be shoved in my rucksack or cubby box. I need decent battery life and built in gps as running a seperate sensor on blue tooth puts more load on the battery.
I ran a search and it has been asked before but these things advance so quickly and prices change so I wondered if anyone has recent experience good or bad before I jump in.

I've been looking also, for quite a while. Like you, I don't want bigger than 7" because I want it for walking as well as car sat nav. Nothing has good enough built in GPS so it's a bit of a pain, a separate sensor may be your only option.

Samsung Galaxy Tab4 in 7" or 10.1", with wifi and built-in GPS, micro-SD slot as well. 8gb or 16gb of internal memory.

Got both, use Sygic Mapping and SatNav.

This is my favourite choice at the minute, I wanted the Sony as its water and dust proof supposedly but I'm not convinced they are as good as a Samsung. If you take the Galaxy into the middle of the Yorkshire dales or the Lake District and turn it on how long will it take to pinpoint your location? If walking it could take hours.

I use Tesco Hudl ... but with MMTracker software but MemoryMap (OS) maps. Gps finds any position, so long as you're not in trees within 20 seconds, most often much quicker. Frankly, for walking, I use my Samsung S6 mobile phone with the same software .. which is even quicker .. the Tesco is in the Landy .. :)

Plot routes and follow up tracks at home on the PC, transfer all via cable or bluetooth as necessary.

If it has internal GPS then you don't need an external GPS ...

Yes I hope the internal one will be good for walking, turning the Bluetooth off helps battery life.
I have a small rechargeable receiver with Bluetooth which is handy in the car as you can throw it on the dash to get the signal and you don't have to hold the tablet up to the screen, so I have both options.
I understand you use memory map what do you use to display the maps?

MMTracker .. you'll have to search for it as Memory Map got it removed from Google Play Store as it uses 'their' OS maps .. ;)
