What are they?

They're devices for remapping ecu's one works on spark timing (megajolt) n t'other works on injection timing (megasquirt)........ I think LOL :D

If your really interested google it. If I remember correctly they's more competition type thingy's ie for normal use they're spensive and without upratin other stuff you'll break spensive bits ;)

I always wanted to do this to my V8 to get rid of the Dizzy so better with water etc.

Mega jolt gives you a coil pack instead of the dizzy and you can map your timing with very fine increments if i remember rightly.

Megasquirt is your engine management, can buy it in kit form with ecu sensors etc, so im guessing you would need to map it on a rolling road once done.

Depends why you want it. If your lookin for more power or own management system for some reason then get mega squirt but if its only for wading issues then I dont see why mega jolt wouldnt be enough.

This is why I want to do it. Handy.:D

Theres a lot of infor on LR4x4 about Megasquirt.

Got Megasquirt on my MX5 Turbo linked to a Link ECU so I can make adjustments if i want, or I can let the system to do it own thing as its fitted to a wide band 02 sensor.

So from personal experiance I have found megasquirt reliable but it a completly different set up.

It also says in the bumf that it is not for sale for use on pollution controlled vehicles and is for experimental and educational purposes only. Maybe a way around the law in the states. Is it legal here. Who knows?

megasquirt and jolt are legal here(uk) you just have to tell your insurance company as its a modification

only of real use in modified cars...ie me fitting one when i put the supercharger on her..

The Link ECU is totally different to Megasquirt.

You either have one or the other?

Megajolt is for timing only. Ie carbs and megasquirt does injection and ignition so is for EFI. I have housed both may a times and they are grate pieces of kit that give you ne'er total controle over Engion electronics. This I vital for an Engion running ne'er its limits or in state of tune that the standard ecu canot keep up with.
I canot really see a need in a Landrover. Wuld be simpler to waterprufe a megajolt on a series as aposed there dizzy but a glove hasunt let me dawn yet. Shore for fun it's worth a play if you like to get geeky but unles your trying to tune an Engion in to a specific powerband teemed with tuned exhausts, cams, intake. Reshaped combustion chambers, high reving valve trains and oversized injectors or jets I'd not bother. Pointless ignition is good on carbs and if your EFI then the bosh ecu is resnubley open to a good tuner.

Besides all that to see any real ganes takes many hours on the rollers. For me anyway.

Go go play if you think it wuld be fun but on its own don't expect Mutch.

There's a lot of Imp guys running Megasquirt ECUs, usually with GSXR600 throttle bodies and injectors. They seem to be pretty reliable once you've mapped 'em.
