Hi I have a Series 3 with an old n/a engine fitted in to it, I have picked up a discovery 1 200tdi engine, but have to work outside the house. I'm looking for someone to fit the 200tdi, in the Worcestershire/Herefordshire area, any suggestions

Yes, just 1, introduce yourself first in the appropriate section.

'Tis awfully rude to arrive unannouced and start asking questions

Sorry Strange days, I,m new to Forums, struggling to navigate my way around and don't know what I'm doing really. Only joined to get some help finding a recommended installer

Are you looking for a right now job and paying or somewhere to do.it and help?

Chunky, I'd like to help as much as possible, as I want to be able to understand the 200tdi for future probs, however if the only option was a pay to get it done then so be it. The n/a is running at the moment, but pressurising the oil I'd like to get the tdi in before the winter.

I think its possible, but wont be at my location. Scrappyloz and I are days from starting my conversion of a td to 200tdi.

Don't know how much is involved with doing it to a series 3. Haven't spotted a blow by blow guide yet but only on my phone.

Pm where you are. Etc. There is a guy I can give you a number for but aint cheap. Was gonna be bout 1300 for mine with me providing donor.

Would he still have a significant boost from that engine compared to what he currently has?

Have read having the turbo can make it a bit too strong for the running gear.

They have something like 110 horse power with the turbo on, and around 80 without it. Also without the turbo they last for ever.

With the turbo on you need a custom exhaust downpipe, turbo needs spinning which means a custom oil pipe. Also you can use the series radiator without the turbo.

If you fit the turbo as well the brakes wont be up to it and the steering will be terrible at higher speed, also the diffs and halfshafts will be under a lot more stress.

Personally without the turbo i feel it would be fine

Also why do you want a 200tdi fitted? if you want better cruising speed fitting a 200tdi wont make it better. In fact it will be even louder.

Why not fit range rover classic diffs (higher ratio) so you get better top end and lower rpm cruising speed.

And an overdrive and bigger tyres

Unfortunately N/A engine is shot, my mate has a 200tdi incl turbo in his 2A & everyone seems to think it is an easy conversion. I had picked up some diffs to be fitted but this was before I realised the engine was shot.
