That works for me - I just checked my TD4 Auto at 2500 revs 70mph - that converts to 84 at 3000 - your chart says at 3000 I should be doing 79
If I take 84/1.46 x 1.36 I get 78mph at 3000 - close to your chart - which gives another confirmation that my particular 2005 TD4 HSE has the v6 IRD
The Tomtom was confirming the roadspeed to within 1 mile/hr - I don't know where in these cars the road speed sensor is in the geartrain but it suggests that the thing is calibrated right for what it can see of my geartrain from wherever it is to the road.

Only thing it means is that the auto has a higher final drive ratio than the other variants. KV6 3.66 to 1. TD4 manual 3.182 to 1. TD4 auto 2.91 to 1. Does it still work for you? :D:D

Bye. You may like to know that a TD4 auto travels at 26.6 MPH per 1000 RPM in top gear. So 2500 RPM = 66.5 MPH. 3000 RPM = 79.8 MPH. If it had a V6 IRD the speeds would be 2500 RPM 57.25 MPH and at 3000 RPM 68.7 MPH.

This fred has gone oft the rails. It's obvious why.
Can I make the suggestion we continue posting our measurements as per the first post request, and ignore him and don't reply to him anymore. This will give the fred the chance it needs to progress and continue.

The overall ratio of a td4 Automatic gearbox is 1.993 in 5th - that of a KV6A is 2.507 - (source B34R's chart gearbox overall ratios)

That's a difference of 2.507/1.993 = 1.258 - Apply that to your 57.25mph @ 2500 rpm and you get 72mph - which is bloody close to what I measured.

So who had the good info? Actually we can all make mistakes so assuming it was meant well and not an attempt to carry on trolling then - I apologise for calling you a troll. (;-))
 
Wrong Wammers. The final drive ratio is set by the gearbox. So if the V6 IRD was fitted to a TD4 auto. Road speed per 1000 RPM would increase, not decrease.

I'm visiting the mother in law tonight to check her V6 tyre pressures so I'll measure the tyres at the same time.;)
 
The MPH per 1000 RPM are assuming that the vehicle is in factory spec. Fitting the higher ratio V6 IRD to the TD4 auto would increase it's MPH per 1000 higher than 26.6 MPH listed in post 6 of that thread. ;)

Giving difference of 6mm
Sorry I forgot to mention pressure. This is 30 Psi all round.
