Well this morning gona try and rip the box out, got a big hammer and a crowbar so im all set........... then its over to Craddocks for a recon box,,,,,,,,, just about had enough of bloody P38s gona fix it and its got to go in favour of another defender, my old 200tdi never missed a beat

Hello Mate, Not sure about other probs other than its very gutless slightest incline and im dropping down 2 even 3 gears to hold 40mph, its not to bad low down but mid range isnt there, comes back in a little above 2,500 but not enough to live with, the best way i can discribe is this, i used to race 125 s strokes "if you dont wring its neck in every gear it wont go",,,,,,,,,,,, but cant keep a 6clyd diesel on the red line every time the wheels are moving, lol my old SIII perky had more guts.

Too much electricery if you ask me, they took a good motor and pimped it up to useless

i meant gear box the diesels are like that at least to me not like the td5,although its worth checking all turbo hoses etc to make sure your not loosing boost as it sounded as if your gearbox was jammed /dislocated gear change rather than worn out, something that could be relocated

Your right about the box all gears selected fin no crunch, no odd sounds, the prob i think was with the adjusters on the remote and the small bearing pads on the stick the r/h side was very worn and i think giving the wobbley stick,,,, driven careful it was fine but the other evening i had a boy racer playing silly buggers in front of me on the M5,, kept over taking and then braking hard ,,,, i saw a slip road for the M6 and saw a way out,, just before the slip he came round again and hit the brakes i did the same grabbed for 4th and swung left ,,,, due to wear in the remote it wouldnt go in kept hitting reverse, i yanked it hard for 2nd and nothing stick locked and all i had was neutral

Could well be mate, just a bit of a struggle on my own but ill get there, times ive helped mates out and where are they when you need um, tell me can the bell housing be split from the clutch housing on the motor,, the smaller i can make each part the more chance i can manage on my todd,,,,,,,,, just looked at the s/h it had a new box 5 years ago shouldnt be too worn id have thought

yes not too bad a job on diesel as you can leave half the bell housing on motor and leave short one on gearbox ,if you get stuck pop it up here and ill have a look ,

Cheers matey, biggest prob i have is all my decent tools went with my 110,,, so struggling with the old tatt,,, plus whoever butchered it used a diff nut and bolt on everything,,,, took 3 diff spanner sizes to drop the propshaft,,, lol exhauts bolts one 13mm 2 14mm one 5/16 whitworth,,,,,,,, think i bought me a lemon

Think i may have have found the gutless prob,,,, under the intake manifold there a braided hose about 10mm dia 3mm bore its just hanging in mid air,,,,, cant see where its come from and will deal with it later,,,,,,,,, is this the much spoken about hose can but hope lol

This is indeed the much spoken of hose that should be attached to the MAP sensor. From under manifold to MAP sensor bolted to fuel filter. Make sure it is clear of obstruction no splits or cracks. You won't get any boost fuelling with it disconnected.

Cheers Wammers, refitted it to the sensor and wired it tight then lockwired the lot,,, Figners crossed i see some improvment when i got gears again.

ps. like the aircraft,,,,,,,,, couldnt build me a Spitfire could you lol C type wing i just love the 20mm cannons

James my mate,,,,,,,, well ive made progress,,,,ish already to pop the transfer box off to find 2 bolts with much rounded heads,,,,, think ill need to drop the lot in one ho hum, bugger it for now,,, its a large JD and soak in the bath. Tomorrow will be the big push lol lol ,,,,,,,,,,Same bat time same bat channel:frusty:

Why build one, you can pick up a flyer for a million quid or so i would think.
Amazing when you consider they cost about £6,000.00 to make origonally.
If you think the fuel consumption on a Rangie is bad, try running a Merlin or better still a Griffon on full chat.:):):)

Never mind the fuel,,,,,, just listen to the music,,,,,,,,,,,all 27ltrs of it,,,, nothing sings like a Merlin well maybe 4 Merlins lol 2 spits or a lanc
