Posted some while ago about an exhaust 'blowing' like noise from engine at around 1500 revs. Generally lacks power. Its not the exhaust. It isnt the egr (Blanked). /quote]
This sort of engine speed is about when the turbo starts to create pressure in everything between the turbo itself (the aluminium outlet side of the turbo) and the engine at the inlet manifold. Turbo pressure can rise to about 15 psi, which is enough to make a flat tyre not so flat. The turbo can pump a masses of air at this pressure, and so a small escape of air can make a lot ot noise.
Check the tightness of the INLET MANIFOLD, and be suspicious about the gasket between it and the head. After that you need to chase down the whole air tract, and check every bit of pipe, every clip, every nut and bolt, and the intercooler itself, for looseness or splits.
I suspect the noise is still there at higher revs but once it reaches about 1 BAR / 15 psi pressure that noise will stay the same but it will be drowned out by the increasing general noise in the engine bay.
