Mazda 3.5 Slt engine

Hi

Be nice as this is first time out!!

Have put 3.5 SLT engine in 88 in hybrid - its a bit heavy but when compaired to my 300tdi pulls like an elephant -

what i am wondering are two things

firstly how can a tweek the turbo boost and fueling to match - am getting bored of towing at 70mph and would like bit more power!! also looked at the mazda cars that run hitachi turbos and trying to find compressor / turbine sizes etc to try and lower rpm that turbo cuts in - any ideas?

secondly - does anybody have a manual (workshop manual) for this engine?

only way i know to tweak turbo boost and fueling is on a dyno with a co2 meter. ya could play fer years any other way.
 
I guessed that may be the case - :)

I would rather tow with the hybrid as hills dont find me reaching for the gearbox and screaming the engine
 
70 MPh is fast enough for towing large trailer on british roads - they are not the best, plus there are too many boy racers who think its funny to pull out in front of you i thier 1.1 what ever with alloys that belong on RR sport and a stero system that belongs in wembly stadium!!!

The mazda doesnt run out of puff in quite the same way as a smaller capacity turbo reliant engine

towing a trailer at 70mph on a uk road is illegal anyway. Not to mention stupidly dangerous so why would you want to in the 1st place.

Speed limits for cars towing trailers and caravans:​
  • 30mph speed limit is applicable on all roads that have street lighting, unless signs indicate otherwise.​
  • 50mph speed limit is applicable on single carriageways unless signs indicate otherwise.​
  • 60mph speed limits are applicable on duel carriageways and motorways.​

Also if your more than 50km from home and towing commercially. I:E a mini digger or similar then you need a Tachograph fitting.

The reason i asked the question was why he was trying to boost the performance of the Mazda 35slt. I have considerable experience of operating the Mazda diesel engines (Fire engine and 22 seater school coach ) to high mileages, I found them to be very reliable, re ringing needed at high mileages, also it pays to replace the bearings after about 250,000kms. It pays to run them fairly high geared rather than reving them .
Furthest call out 128kms at flat out (120kmh approx):eek: Emu feedlot accomodation fire
 
Fire engine and 22 seater school coach - now that is an interesting hybrid! Guess it's ok for when the little buggers spark up on the back seat!

Yea but the post wasn't aimed at you so wind yer fooking neck in.
 
wind the guv'nor out a bit the engine will be being restricted by fueling rather than the amount of air you can get into it (if you have seen an engine run on its own oil you would know you can get the air in)
