hey guys.
i might have to get rid of my disco soon :( there may be too much welding needed. not sure just how bad its gonna be. and my gear box is getting worse. would be cheaper to get another i think. Since my partner left me i aint had much chance to get on here so i havent been able to ask much. Does anyone have any idea how much work needs to be done to have a whole new back floor fitted?
thanks.

Hi there, if you mean a boot floor panel, they're actually not that bad to do.

The panel itself will cost about £55: LRD143 Rear Floor Section

The crossbars may also need replacing, 2 of these:

ALR8519 Rear Floor Crossmember - front

Plus doing the job. If you can't weld then strip out as much of the interior yourself before asking a garage for a quote. If you are lucky the sides will be in usable condition so it will only need the new floor panel plus the x-members welding in.

They will probably quote something like 2 hrs for cutting out the old panel and x-members and 3 hours for the welding-in of the new stuff.

Then you will need to re-paint and waxoyl afterwards so it doesn't hapen again for a loooooooooooong time !!!

Good luck.

Dave

thankyou. i will have to look in to it. i dont think there is any decent metal to weld to.lol.but il have a look. the hole is rapidly growing.there is a big hole on the strip under my back door too. think my cross member is on its way out too. my MOT is in august. im dreading it. i have a hole where my front bumper connects to the car aswell. so not looking great for the poor beast. i hope i can get it sorted,
cheers for the advice

If your not doing the work, as a head's-up on a price .. I've been quoted by my local indy -- £300 to do the boot floor (all stripping/re-fitting) & an extra £200 to do the rear cross-member as well.

As for the hole in the bumber bracket - join the club, probably easier to get it patched, that's if it doesn't fall apart when you take the bumper off!

MOT tester tried to fail our Disco because of the hole it until I pointed out it was not the chassis that was see-through:rolleyes:
