Evening gents. I'm sure the name in the title is properbly wrong, but what is this bolt called? It would apear to limit the amount the throttle can open the injection pump.

Why would you want to restrict this? I would have thought it was better to open it as far as possible when your foot is flat to the floor?

Any reason why this could not be screwed out a couple of turns and matched with an equivlent adjustment of the throttle pedal stop in the cab, to enable the throttle to open more?

Cheers

leave it be, you can tune the pump but your risking killing the engine.

Is'nt the limiting factor the inflow of air - hence the turbo and intercooler etc. Turning up the turbo will give you more power but obviously will destroy the engine.

Put more fuel in without more air and all you do is get incomplete combustion, and throw fuel away.

The engine is designed to give out a certain amount of power, and will not tollerate a lot more power going through it. if you realey want more power i can sell you some nitrous oxide if you want it, but you will get around 10-20 meters before it self distructs.

leave it alone as Fanatic said you'll run the risk of blowing your motor . theses are normally factory set as its the max fuel delivery set for the engine . as long as your getting full throttle when the pedals bottomed out its ok .
Sure you can wind it out to get more throttle but dont expect the engine to last long as it WILL OVER REV .

------------------ you have been warned ----------

Thanks guys. Given the age of the Landy I might get the max revs checked out when its next hooked up to the MoT clever machine. :) What rpm should the 300Tdi be limited to and what should it idle at?

Cheers
Steve

leave it be, if you must play there is a timing thread for getting the best out of the timing and also some people have found boost drops off with age and have remedied it
