I have installed something called Pi-hole on a raspberry pi as a DNS adblocker for my house internet. Ads be gone! It won't be everone's cup of tea but it isn't that hard. Drive SWMBO crazy because it blocks all Google re-directs if she gets sponsored ads, I could change it but I'm mean. hahahahaha

Anyway, had a look at engine in daylight. Started engine and could see no leaks. Oil in engine as I topped up and checked normal on dipstick. Took the oil breather cap off and oil was literally chucked out Of it. If oil was getting past the cap under load that might explain why the exhaust manifold is covered in an oily mist as is the top of the engine. Why would oil be chucked out like that when engine idling?

There is supposed to be a negative pressure in the crank case, the turbo sucks fumes out via the breather in the cam cover. You say it is a 97 with EGR.1997 do not have EGR. You will have to describe the breather. Is it just a pipe out of the cam cover to the turbo inlet hose or is there a round plastic CDV in the hose?

No egr. Pipe comes out cam cover then into round plastic Cdv.

Clean out constant depression valve CAREFULLY. Or get a new one. Remove cam cover and clean out oil separator. You said it had EGR earlier. Or am i losing the plot.

I did say earlier in error. I have a bad feeling there’s excessive blow due to worn out engine. It’s done 140k.

If the oil separator mesh in the cam cover is clogged and not working properly oil will be blown out past the CD valve which then also becomes clogged. First job is to clean them out and see what you get.

I might do my own at the weekend I think.
