Noticed bike rack covered in oil this evening. Looked underneath and everything covered in oil. Engine bay covered in the black stuff including block on passenger side and on rocker cover and manifold. Engine starts and runs ok - but can’t see where it’s all coming from?

If it's spraying everywhere, it's likely to be the cooler hoses as they are under some pressure. They are on passenger side

It's clean down time!
When you checked the oil on the dipstick was it missing a lot since the last time you had checked?
Oil creeps and a little lost looks like a lot!! (Say that drunk and fast).
You need to clean it all down and then let it idle and check for a leak and then go for a run and check again if nothing found the first time.
If its everywhere, it's either been doing it for a while or its a leak under pressure. ;)

Ha ha. I’ll take a close look at the pipes this evening. If needed is replacing oil rad and pipes a water radiator out job?

Some info about car maybe useful in that regard. Another one who has not read the first post on Range rover page.

Hard to really see what with so much black engine oil about but oil cooler pipes look ok. The oil filter housing however is covered in the stuff - looks like it’s sprung a leak.

That’s what I’m hoping. Proper seating does seem to be a hit or miss affair. Will need to fill up with oil and see what’s going on with engine running.

I’ve had quite a few filters bought off the online auction site where the o - rings are no where near the right size - any recommendations of a reliable brand?

I normally get the Mann filters from Eurocarparts when the discount code starts to go over 50%. They come with the o-ring. I always keep the old one for a while, just in case. I change the oil so often I don't always change the o-ring so I have a few spares hanging up. Got the metal filter on mine from the earlier engine.

Coopers and Fram are reliable but could be Chinky copies who knows these days. Vehicle spares are a lottery even from genuine suppliers at times.

On a slightly off topic note - Is it only me or does everyone get ads for Jinibikini on this site?
