Where is a cheap and reliable place to get Marine blue paint?

Also, how much would i need to paint a 88'' inside and out.

thanks

You can get paints from Paddocks, but they're not cheap ...

your best bet is to go to a local independent auto-paint supplier and get them to mix your colour, they will supply the thinners, sandpaper and other bits your'll need...

i suggest you do not use Paddocks for Marine Blue. Ive got three tins off them and all are unsuitable for a series. I think Landrover called the blue on the earlly 90s Marine Blue which is much darker, this is what Paddocks supplied to me 3 times. local supplier got it spot on first time

I got mine from a supplier on line. I ordered "Aircraft Blue" thinking it would be something like the blue the airforce used but it turned out more like a royal blue. I used it anyway and now its looking good.
I was told I would need about 3 litres by a car sprayer friend but it was better, financially, to buy 5 and I have used most of it with a little left over for touching up any future mishaps.

bit of an old thread I know but heres an 88 done with paddocks paint Land Rover Owner • View topic - Series III Restoration

This'll be what I want to use on mine (I do seem to like the darker shade of blue over the lighter original blue on other lad rovers and doesn't look too far off whats on mine at the minute). It should look ok with the limestone roof and county stripes along the side. At £12.45 a litre its less than half the price of craftmasters paint which is a very good paint (use it on stationary engines)

.

i did just buy some limestone paint from paddocks and only came in 1ltr which for the price was terrible

Until you compare it to craftmasters which is £27.95 a litre  Suddenly makes paddocks look bargain basement

Actually doing some maths 2.5L of paddocks paint isn't that far off a 2.5L from where you ordered (works out at £37.50 (Incl VAT)) A whole pound cheaper .

i noticed that. when i bought it last year, it was around £43 for 5L next day delivery

I bought a tin of Paddocks Marine Blue a couple of years ago and found it didn't match at all. I incorrectly believed this to be due to my original paint changing over the years. I then bought a small Genuine Land Rover Marine Blue in an aerosol can...but it was expensive. I was amazed to find that it matched perfectly...but respraying the whole car using small aerosol cans would be way too expensive.

Is it the paddocks paint you used on the one in your signature? It looks good, same age as mine too :)

I only used the Paddocks paint for the interior because of the imperfect match...but I have used the genuine aerosol paint for small areas to touch-up on the exterior. I'm in two minds to paint the galvanised bumper in satin black to try and update it a bit.

I'm doing the opposite and taking it back to a galvanised bumper :D

That’s interesting feedback. I want to go back to MN from hideous Masai Red.
