Mappable Electronic ignition

Hi guys,
well I have replaced everything twice now as you know, and everything has been double checked and timed but I still get a miss in timing when I have done a journey.

the only thing I haven't replaced and I now suspect is my accuspark distributor.

I was going to buy a powerspark from simonbbc but then saw this bad boy on the bay of e.

anyone on here tried one or know if they are up to scratch?

Is there timing chain play? Have you done strobe ignition advance check.

Are you 100% sure its spark and not fuel / air leak?

strobe shows good advance when throttling, no air leaks, new carb, new pump, fuel lines re-routed..honestly everything's been done except change the electronic distributor I purchased.
compression is good. oil pressure sits at 55, after a long run it drops to 45/50 at idle.

I haven't taken timing cover off.. got a crank seal to fit at some point so will check then

strobe sits nice and steady and doesn't wander as you'd expect if chain was slack though

I had a simonbbc dizzy ran sweet as. Third the price of that one on ebay plus you can change the advance on any dizzy by swapping bob weights etc.
If you change the dizzy just mark the #1 lead position relative to something stationary on engine block or rad. Donr move engine then line up new dizzy body as marked.

To be honest I was going to go for a powerspark (one from simonbbc) as im not happy with the accuspark.

I wonder what the difference is between the two units?
Perhaps the same patterned 45d bodies but with different electronic components?

coming home today it bunny hopped when I put my foot down coming up hill (suggests fuel) and my lucas gold coil is quite warm. plugs are normal colour.

Can be hard to tell if its fuel or ign sometimes. Your dizzy could be faulty and not advancing when warm or under certain conditions. The centrifugal advance could be the culprit? Take the dizzy off and inspect it or borrow or buy a replacement. You can get an old points 45d or 35d will work, off ebay. Good luck these problems suck!

Could be innards of the dissy, the one I got from simon bbc the weights were too light and it kept jamming open (advanced) I ended up getting a genuine lucas 45d, wasn't cheap but ran so much better with correct advance.

Could be hot fuel. I got tired of that on mine and swapped to an electric fuel pump.

could be, I fitted a new mechanical fuel pump a month or so ago, maybe I got the arm the wrong side of the cam lobe?

I have purchased a simonbbc Lucas coil and electronic point kit and will retrofit it to my original genuine lucas 45D dizzy and give it a good testing

Does the current set up work well?

seems to work ok, I just get a random misfire when I've done a few miles, coil is hot etc.

will post when new bits arrive, checked fuel pump and it chucks fuel out so can't be that

Sorry for my ignorance, but what are you mapping in this set up? and how do you do it?
Are you using a resistor with your coil?
How good is the distributor shaft and bushes, is there any play?
How good is the earths on the vehicle?

This may be to late, maybe you got it fixed.

hi, I'm not mapping anything yet, just expressing an interest in a mappable solution.

I have since fitted a simonbbc distributor with a true Hall effect sensor and all my problems seem to have gone now
