Just pulled my MAP sensor off to change the pipe, and although it doesnt appear blocked, it's clear that oil has been getting up the pipe. Is it worth trying to clean it out with anything? If so... What?
 
I just used carburetor cleaner. When I got my first Rangie the MAF mesh had a dead wasp and some bits of leaves in it. Cleaning it didn't appear to make a whole lotta difference but at least I know its clean.
 
Done - next Q, what resistance am I supposed to see across what terminals? I've had the meter on, across all possible combinations of terminals, and the values don't change if I apply pressure (or vaccuum) to the pipe.
 
The resistance value is probably irrelevant cos it's not a resistance, it requires 5 volts and ground across 2 of the wires and the signal comes out on the third wire or so I believe. You should be able to check it with Nanocom or Faultmate or possibly a voltmeter from the signal line to ground with the engine on.

It's a pressure sensitive unit don't put vac on it. Gently blow it out with air. Also make sure the nipple under the manifold is clear. Pins 2 and 3 are circuit pin 1 is signal. Have a look at diagrams. As Data says measures voltage change not resistance.

When I pull plug on mine ticking over and go round and rev it up there seems to be no miss etc. .
Seems to not make any difference plug on or off , I have revved it up to and held it at around 2500 rpm .
 
Thanks hope mine helps. I bought the egr by pass but every time I fit it you can't see for smoke
So hoping this and changing the sensor in the air intake makes a difference,
Although I got cheap fault reader but it came up no codes ,

Diesel P38 isn't ODB compliant so ODB2 code reader cannot read anything.
