Manual transmission - neutral switch

Hi folks,

First post - so hello everyone!

Is it possible to access / change the neutral switch on the manual transmission without a ramp or undoing bits of the transmission?

I've had a real good grope around in the area I'm sure it's supposed to be, but I just can't find it.

Left side of transmission forward of gear lever position. You should find reverse switch and neutral switch close together.

They are hard to reach not very easy to remove i tryed on mine when i trying to sort low range not working managed to got the plug off but not a lot of room for spaners or sockets, whats wrong with with it

Exactly the same issue - it is preventing low range from being selected. It appears to be completely open circuit. I've linked out the neutral switch pin on the transfer box ECU for now.

I'm planning on having another go at it tomorrow. I knew where it -should- be, but I just couldn't find it by groping around blind. As long as I know that it is theoretically accessible, I'll risk ripping some more flesh off!

I had a suspicion that it wouldn't be easy. I'm hoping I can get a ratchet spanner onto it... First thing I'll do is link it out though in case it's a wiring fault.

reverse light switch is ok to do but the neutral is a bastard.

Hello Tony, yes as well as can be expected. Spent all day moving light switches ready to knock some walls down, the Enemy wants double doors in the main lounge and kitchen. She also wants all the doors changed so 17 new ones were delivered yesterday. Expects them to be fitted yesterday. Just going through a page and a half of new posts I missed today, wish I was still working

Fine all is good. Just take the doors off and put curtains up.

I wouldn't get away with that suggestion. Save a lot of money and I could get another P38. Not going back till next month so she thought I needed something to do
