Looking at magnetec oil 10w-40 as its been very slightly sluggish these cold mornings plus i don't have a clue what oil is in it other than it was clean when i bought it mid oct , but i drove 250 miles back and done 50 since so call it flushing oil , So i think an oil change is in order .
Question is what difference if any is there between magnetec diesel and magnetec for petrol/diesel ???? .

Yer need to confirm what it is and the engine. ;)
Judging by his profile he's got a 'Fender 90 with a 200tdi engine.
I would also advise the @bongo1 to get the battery and charging system checked over. Sluggish turning over and starting in cold weather is more likely to be a problem with the starter motor and associated electrickery than the wrong grade of oil.
Here's the page of recommended oils for the 'Fender and you should see that the oil viscosity recommended is 5W/30 for lower temperatures and 5W/40 which would cover almost any temperature encountered in the UK.

As for the differences between the two oils which you mention, all I can presume is that any differences would be found in the chemistry of the additives such as the cleaning agents. Frankly, I would say that you'd be had pushed to detect any difference in use between such high priced brands and a basic, no frills, bog standard 5W/30 or 5W/40 oil, especially in an older engine.
The main thing to remember is to change your oils regularly. I change my engine oil every year.

I know that its an endless affair about which oil , MILLERS was one choice . When i say sluggish i mean a slow half turn and it fires up , im not churning over + over , also its when its freezing and not been run and when i do its only short trips . Otherwise its spins fast . once started its fast . Its a 75 amp 680cca halfords calcium 096 , Its me been super critical and most likely need a 100amp 800cca , but it looks fairly new , i may use for the dual charge system as a back up battery , but that's another issue .

It starts first touch its not failed , but if as it has been freezing of late its just not spun it as fast as normal . If when the day has warmed its fine or once its started . Battery tests out ok and Battery looks to be fairly new , Not glow plugs as they don't control spin over speed , earths ok otherwise it would be an issue all the time , Starter ? , well again once its been started or when its a warm day no issues . As i don't do long trips and infrequently that does not help . I have trickle charged the battery although reading ok . So will try it in the morning
BUT back to it , OIL needs to be changed as ive no idea whats in it , could be EP90 treacle lol ,

Also ive of late just started it and let it idle which wont help .
1988smithy , Why a new battery ? . because you think its done or for a higher amp battery . only im sure the battery is fine .

because slow cranking at low temps but fine otherwise is often a poor battery all batteries are effected but as they start to fail more so

Possibly the battery , its not got a fitting date on it so no real idea apart from visually it looks fairly new . So as its a 4 year Halfrauds warranty i will go back with it . but im guessing as it reads 12+ volts they will say its fine .

age is no guarantee nor is voltage or a drop test, its the luck of the draw as with most parts

Your right , NEW battery i guess is the answer and use this one it as an aux battery . Thanks for all the help .
Decided on millers XFE semi 10w-40 diesel eng oil . That's one decision made .
