Hi all, bit of a thread revive here.
i recently got your synergy 2 box for my 02 freelander, absolutely amazing! best £200 ive spent on her, however today friends of mine in the local motorsport club noticed plumes of blue smoke coming from the exhaust :confused:
im hoping that this is just a minor inconvenience and not something more serious, any thoughts on what it could be?
just recently decated her too.

thanks Scotty

its set to number 2, also noticed while checking EGR solenoid to sort out duck noise that there is oil in my inlet pipes :confused: thats not a good sign, completely flushed out the system when i last worked with the EGR.

I have this happening every now and then also, mainly on start up when the engine is cold, but also occassionally when running around normally!........... I don't have a tuning box of any sort on my TD4. A mechanic friend of mine said that it could be the MAF is faulty, so I am currently going through the process of ellimination before committing to changing the turbo. One of the things I am changing is the EGR, having instead a bypass kit ready to fit, this will help stop the sludge build up in the intake system.

When I change the MAF, I will be looking at getting a better one than the standard 'bollocks'........ Sorry Bosch unit!

Hope this helps

re. oil in the intercooler hoses ..

read the .pdf in 1st post this link

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/turbos-n-oil-fyi-189590.html

~~~~~~
a small amount of oil in those hoses is considered normal for the td4 ..
i've noticed that it gathers at the lip-joins .. where the hoses join the pipes ..
and it's probably due to the 'depression' caused by the air-filter / intake plastic pipes
i.e. that 'depression' will suck some oil into the intake air-stream ..
no doubt happens when air-filter is less-than-clean .. and the turbo is providing much boost due to driver demand via the go-pedal ..
a clogged up crankcase breather wouldn't help matters ;-/
