If I unplug the maf and run the car am I right in believing the car will accelerate faster if the maf is faulty?

I have been having some periods of lack of power recently, especially moving off from a standstill. I am hoping it is just the hot weather, but I thought it would be a good time to see how it performs without the maf plugged in.

If its a TD4,its probably just the weather.
I have the same problem with mine when its hot.
Mostly when setting off and when in in slow moving traffic.
Last year when we had a minor hot spell I tried disconnecting the MAF(no change) and even got near to buying a new one.
Luckily it turned colder and the running was back to normal.

If yours is like mine,it sort of hesitates and then picks up.Fine on open road.

Yes, it is a TD4, and yes those are my symptoms.

It seemed a bit better today, not that it was much cooler.

On one journey a few days ago, when idling, the engine was really lumpy. I am convinced that the heat caused that as it has not happened again. That was the hottest day of the year so far.

the relatively hotter air intake temp will cause it to run *leaner
( my a.i.t. was between 36c and 40c today when driving )

initial pick-up is much better when it's running @ 21c or so ..
mpg drops as well if i'm not careful with the go-pedal :)

* well not leaner per say .. it simply doesn't inject as much fuel as it does when cooler
'cause the air-mass is less ..

I have also noticed it using more fuel, so it does sound like I have nothing to worry about. :)

I am considering a synergy.
