After the sensor/manifold/Transmission oil work she went like stink and everything was fine. Even intimidated an L322 (you know when they plan to boot it when EAS drops to sport 1st). After few days she now seems to get confused? Im not even sure it is related so now I'm confused too.

Give away seems to be - with cold engine ambient temperature is about 4/5• outside (late evening). Hevac reads 26• As you drive along and engine warms hevac temp reading will drop to actual value. Engine then seems to behave strangely hunting around lower revs and doesn't quite pull our want to start? Planning on investigating fueling later today

No nanocom yet, maybe Xmas present - long way away :D Or if I get that win...

Yes I have fiddled with temp sensors recently (earlier posts on this thread). Took blue out cleaned and replaced, changed green for new one (Lucas) - Old one had connector turning round and round. Also have new brown sensor spare ordered by mistake if you ever need one.

Disconnect green and try running again?

Beyond my ken! Guess it wouldn't hurt.

Beyond my barbie too,
I am panicking that the tappet noise is actually water entering cylinder, one would explain alot but not noticed any pressure in system. Without a nanocom current method is keep driving see if it breaks :D and prepare creditcard
Time to flush the head with either ATF or white derv, and drop engine oil again. Needs doing and may help my stress factor :)

Hate to scaremonger mate, but a "tappet' noise was the start of my rebuild.
Two things it could be from my "limited"
knowledge, 1) water getting into a pot or 2) injector sticking and not spraying or operating. Try a whole bottle of injector cleaner on a low tank and blast it down the road or, have injectors serviced. Not too expensive if you have them done one at a time and you do notice a difference as they get done.

You can get UV dye that goes in the water and a UV torch. If anything is getting in the oil it will show up on the dip-stick. Tappet or sticky injector? Any smoke? I'm a bit cautious about flushing agents since I used some in an old Astra engine and it scrubbed all the debris off the seals and smoked forever more. Prefer regular oil changes (5k miles).

How about recording the noise and see if @wammers has an idea? What he doesn't know about the oil burner isn't worth knowing.
