Well, seeing as you guys lost me after about the first two words I'll wait until my resident IT auditor (retd) wifey returns from her weekend with the gurlz and see what she thinks, although she hates Windows with a vengeance and thinks its all carp. She is an Apple girl. Should have called her Eve!

Given that, I highly recommend a Linux version - free and it is Unix - so what's not to like :)

Peppermint 10 here, Ubuntu based, but much lighter on resources ;)

With modern computers, the need for an OS that runs light isn't really needed.. unless you're doing it just because you can (which is surprisingly popular)
I ran Ubuntu on a 10 year old desktop with no issues at all

Indeed :) I much prefer a light DE, and use the terminal a lot, despite some serious health issues which makes typing something of a pain ( literally ).....

This laptop is a i7, with 16Gb of RAM, and over 2Tb of SSD - so, it'd even run windross :eek: - but there ain't no way in hell that'll ever happen :p :D
