My discovery 300 tdi is still lumpy on start up.
Doesn't like being revved until after a couple of minutes, holds back....
Still puffs out a cloud of bluey smoke then I'm away.

I'm going to do timing belt/check timing... and check for air getting in

Any other ideas?:bounce:

Turned i'd put the wrong oil in mine and it ran like a bag of spanners when cold, hated starting, smoked etc etc. when it came to oil change time I used semi synth 10w/40 and its made the world of difference! Next time I won't use the free oil given to me by a mate that services bin lorries!!

Sounds like mine when oil was leaking into the cylinders through the head gasket and valve stem seals. It used to run like it was missing and if you reved it you would get a cloud of blue. if you held the revs the blue would clear after about a minuet at 1800 revs.

Valve stem seals sometimes respond to Stop Smoke oil additives in the short term but its saving trouble up for later . Saying that , I often do it since I usually write the damn thing off before much else goes wrong.....

SORTED!!
I have changed the CAm Belt with a friend and we discovered the timing was out by quite a bit.
The woodruff key on the cam shaft was slightly out of line with the mark on the sprocket also.
No blue smoke on start up, much more performance pre boost and the car feels a couple of tonne lighter!!
