LRD Pedal Pin

Anyone got one of these fitted to their defender?

I was thinking about buying an X-defend pedal lock and seen this!

There's not a lot of "meat" on the bracket where the pin goes through. Couple of cuts and bend the lock pin up and out the way.
Just my initial thoughts.
Good multilayer item though?

I had the same first thought, few minutes with a junior hacks saw looks like it could defeat that, Would have though ti should be double the thickness. Good for mulit layered security but I certainly wouldnt want to rely on if from a first impression.

It looks like a nice near idea. I like the fact that my peddle shield is massive and you can't help but notice it. It means you might not bother trying. Fingers crossed.

You might not notice that one, so you would still end up with a busted door or window. Also, you could just unbolt it.

But then the master cylinder would fall off.
Could use security bolts though like on the ign switch.

Found this thread as l just fitted this device, sadly the X-Eng lock won’t fit Defenders with aircon

The device comes with security bolts, well it does now
Also the actual locking mechanism is on the left side so sawing through the bit you can get to on the right won’t get the pin out.

lt’s a twin ball bearing lock into a steel casing so l doubt you’d twist it off with Stillsons either

Couple of downsides it takes both hands to get the pin out, as it rotates when you try to turn the key otherwise.

And it’s a swine to fit if you have a Defender with the thick soundproofing layer over the pedals.
And it’s a bit expensive at £100

But lMO a good additional layer to security

Surely you have all driven cars with a duff clutch pedal, ie clutchless gearchanges and starting it on the key whilst in gear?

Well yes it could be driven without using the clutch, but it’s not easy and most car thieves won’t have the skills.

Would also likely defeat the opportunist thief.

But like l said, a useful part of a layered security package.

It would actually be better if it held the clutch pedal down, rather than stopping the pedal being pressed

Something to keep in mind when securing a vehicle is the damage caused to the vehicle when a thief tries to steal it anyway.

Thinking of getting one of these to use in conjunction with another pedal lock- how are you getting on with it?
I like the idea of this as it’s quick to put in place alongside a disklok if just nipping into Tesco, but if being left for longer could use this and a pedal lock and a disk lock?

Yes it's still fine, a bit of a faff to fit/remove the pin, but it would be difficult to get off with the thieves weapon of choice, the cordless angle grinder, due to the position of it.
l would still recommend the X-Eng pedal lock if you don't have aircon, because it takes under five seconds to set, and covers all three pedals.
