Heya there,

I bought a britpart fuel tank sender jobby for my under-drivers-seat fuel tank, as the other one was really erratic. Basically, what it does now is the following:

- if you have the float at the bottom of the range, the low fuel light comes on

- as you move it upwards, the pin on the gauge starts to go upwards as well

- the low fuel light on the dash goes off, and the pin on the gauge goes straight back down to the bottom at the same time, and doesn't move whatsoever through the whole range. ie. It's only working when the low fuel level light is on on the dash.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this behaviour?

Cheers. Tom.

Ok, there is a thread on here, started by Pos, entitled - Fuel Tank Sender -

This thread indicates that Britpart have their terminals in different locations to normal land rover sender units... Now I need to find out which ones are which ...

Hokay, i've nailed it:

- Land rover fuel tank sender units go (from back of yer landy to the front):
black, cream, green

- Britpart go:
cream, black, green

black is earth, cream is for the variable voltage on the float, and green is for the fuel warning light.

;) 10 / 10,

ah did mine last month,

were not as technical as yours tho, i just kept changing the crimps round til it worked,

will do some funny things when its wired rong!

I've also been looking to see why my low fuel light does not come on.

Looking at the sender its only got Black and Green wires. Black in the middle and green towards the front. The fuel gauge seems to work OK. (and yes I've checked the bulbs etc).

So whats going on?

PS: Its a 94 defender 90 300Tdi.
