Hi folks,

Bit of a strange one this. I have a 2011 td4 with 114,000mls and I’ve noticed that the turbo is fairly loud under boost. There are no fault codes or noticeable power loss. Mpg is still around the 40 mark which is normal for me. It has been noticeable since I bought the car 15,000 miles ago, but not excessive, so I thought that was normal. I can hear it through the driver’s footwell and when I put the window down while driving you can hear it is loud. Any thoughts? I can’t see or hear anything untoward at idle. Thanks

Poss a split pipe, there is a one that is prone to failing somewhere. Have a search on here for its location.

Had the same issue, replaced the hose and it was a broken exhaust bracket.

A small split in the short boost hose will seldom show any codes, or affect performance, but will cause noise under boost.
with a diagnostic tool read live data for turbo commanded and actual turbo values, should be the same figures or a bit more for actual. I can read these on another vehicle using clone elm237 with app on phone.

Thanks everyone, I’ll do another visual check this weekend and take the hoses off if they look a bit suspect. Might be split in an area that’s hard to see when on the engine. After that it’s a diagnostic check as JD suggested. I’ll get to the bottom of it somehow 😀
