Finally have it running after changing the starter motor to a bearmach model, new battery (one that is technically under powered but will do for now) and cleaning up the earth contacts.

Sweeping broom on the clutch pedal is to make the engine turn over with less friction. No idea if it actually helps but worth a go.

Holding clutch down always helps expecially in reallly cold weather, plus also good safety thing.

What was that black smoke coming from the top of the engine?

Not sure looks like a bit of oil on the top. Hopefully.

Oil wouldn't have smoked like that until it was really hot.

Diesel or something else? Their was a pool of something sitting their.

Was the engine already hot before you started it for the vid. The smoke looks like it's chugging out rather than some oil/diesel burning off. It might just be an optical illusion of the video and my glasses which need cleaning.

It started once before that for a couple of minutes. That's the second start after sitting from may last year.
I do know their was an oil leak somewhere when I bought it from previous owner but they didn't say where.
