LR Rookie missing some grunt in his Freelander

Hi everyone

I just have a question. I noticed that my Freelander is not as responsive as I thought it would be. I recently purchased a Freelander SE Soft top v6 (2003 semi-auto model) and for its age, it has a very low mileage which is fantastic.

Basically, when accelerating, the 1st gear appears to be fine. However, if I try to accelerate more, the rev-meter takes a while to go up. It eventually gets "there" to change to another gear but it's just weird how it seems to be "slow to respond" per se. Because I am so used to a quick response to acceleration, I have managed to almost reach the "red line" area of the rev-meter for not taking my foot off the pedal (which I know is bad I think).

Anyway, if someone is out there what could be potentially wrong with my new baby, it would be much apppreciated.

On that note, I am actually taking "her" to the dealer this Friday to check why there is heat (which seems to from the heater) is blowing inside the cabin. But before I open my mouth with other issues, I just want to make sure I consult this forum first for advice since, I'm sure you'd understand, I just dont want to be ripped off by the dealers.

get the car checked out first - the KV6 hippoos (freelanders) weren't particularly quick - but they are dragging round a huge weight. The diesel is as quick and more economical. If yu are hoofing it, yu will be lucky to get 18MPG from it. yu are better to use "Sports mode" on the auto box - I assume you are using it in manual mode at the moment?

Hmm.. so this "slow response" is normal then.

dunno - without timing it or seeing it. But get the garage to check it out - they are better able to judge. the specs (0-60times) are available - yu can check them yoself

"Slow response" is due to overloaded lines or when hits on the lines and packets have to go back and forth all the time ....

No, not at all, but these two words "slow response" used to be a nightmare in my last professional job. Some of the IT people would file a complaint for "slow response" if they measured some hundreds of milliseconds slower transfers as they usually had. When you then asked if it was causing them problems they most of the time said "no, but I've installed a sniffer or similar equipment and amusing myself by checking the lines/network". (One guy, a regular customer, admitted he was bored at his job as everything worked fine so he took every opportunity to call us mainly to have a chat. Imagin.)

Well, I woke up very early today and left at 5.30am for work (so I can joy ride for a bit before traffic hits) and tested the tiptronics of this baby. VERDICT: You were right - the manual mode was more responsive!

Oh man, i so need coffee right now ..and these office lights are too bright!
