How much for the kit with tank etc ?

Is there a diy kit ?
Easy to fit ?

Cost of set up and certificate afterwards ?

Cost to have a company supply and fit ?

Just initial ideas at the mo,

Any help would be much appreciated,

Miles and cost per tank on petrol
Miles and cost on lpg

Hi there Hunty, it sounds like you are trying to make a judgement about running costs of a Disco V8 on petrol and LPG. If that is right, here are a few thoughts:

1. Not an expert on LPG systems but I believe there are at least 2 broad types of system - single point injection and multipoint injection.

Single point is relatively inefficient I believe and will only give about 80% of the power and mpg of petrol, but is cheaper to buy.

Multipoint injection is more efficient, likely to get nearer to 90% efficiency but more expensive to buy and install.

2. V8 fuel consumption on petrol. Depending on manual or autobox but if you budget on 12-15mpg you'll be about right.

I'm not professing to be an expert, but I hope that gives you something to work on. Disco V8's are not economical in any shape or configuration - you have to want one.

Good luck

Dave

If I'm honest it probably cheaper to buy one with it fitted, unless you manage to get a second-hand kit and fit it yourself.
Price for a kit to be fitted vary between £1400-£2000 supplied, they're reluctant to fit a second-hand kit but if you get one they'll probably charge you a day's labour which would be £400+.
They aren't to hard to fit for somebody with some competence and not any more dangerous than messing with petrol in my opinion, hope this is some help regards Steve

Try these for kit prices, they are also very helpful to talk to.
Tinley Tech Limited Autogas conversion equipment
If you fit the kit yourself you can take the car to a specialist for testing and a certificate, prices vary between approximately £40 - £60.
I have had 2 range rovers in the past with lpg but never gone down the diy route, but i know a few people that have. Personally i like a system fitted locally then if anything goes wrong its up to them to fix it.
