Hi, Haven't been around for a while.

Anybody got any thoughts on converting the Freelander 2 i6 to LPG.

Given that this lump is a Ford/Volvo unit it should be OK.

Anybody got any recommendations around SW London/Berks/Hants area.

thanks a lot

Alan

Not all Ford engines are LPG compatible but it might be OK.

More research is needed before committing to an expensive LPG conversion.

Also take into consideration how old the vehicle is, the mileage you expect to do in it while you have it, and how much you can expect to save on fuel in that time, not forgetting to factor in increased insurance costs. Look at where the gas tank needs to be fitted too as it could reduce boot space. Compare this to buying the diesel version of the same vehicle and how much better on fuel that is without any modification. There's loads to consider when changing to a different fuel type.

Thanks for your thoughts. I already run a previously-converted LPG converted L322 (4.4 BMW V8), so I understand all the shortfalls.
I just wanted to know about a Freelander 2 i6 I was thinking about buying.
I wouldn't buy a diesel now as they will shortly be banned in city centres.

A lot of that is scaremongering as if a ban is put in place, it'll only be for older EU3 diesels, EU4 will be fine for the foreseeable future. Besides all HGVs and buses are diesel, and they'll not ban those.
I'll always by a diesel myself. In fact we're going to order a new SUV in October and it'll be a diesel, simply because they're better on fuel and produce less CO2 as a result

If there's a subsequent diesel from a city on a, then I'll simply not visit that city.

As you already have an LPG vehicle, you could ask about the FL2's suitability where you get your LPG system serviced.;)

@AXLE has an i6 converted FL2.

The i6 stopped in 2008 int uk market as the diesels were so good, more economical and favoured.

The acceleration of the i6 is the same as the SD4. SD4 being the second diesel option available for eggstra £ from 2011 onwards.

One may wish to consider the running cost of an lpg i6 petrol against the standard form SD4. The SD4 is EU5 as it has a diesel particulate filter dpf.
