LPG and TD4

I agree you can lpg a diesel, but I don't know of anyone who's done a td4. I know of someone years ago who did a td5 as he took his tratter and trailer into the London congestion zone as a dual fool setup, to save on the charges.

I spoke to some one about this quite a while ago. As far as I am aware you can add LPG to a diesel, but it is mixed with the diesel upto about 30%

As far as I am aware you cannot replace the diesel fuel with 100% LPG, as you can with a petrol engine.

As I say this was a good 6 years ago, so maybe the tech has moved on since then.

^^^ this.
It is not a complete replacement fuel, but the gas is added to the diesel, meaning around 20% - 30% less diesel is required. Its perfectly feasible.

However.....LPG is perhaps half the cost of diesel, so in reality, you are paying 50% less on 20 - 30% of your fuel consumption. In a car that already does 30+mpg, it is going to take you an awfully long time to recover the installation costs.

It is put into the air after the turbo, you are charging the air with lpg vapors on the intake stroke

and this is from the manfacture of the kit

Care must be taken to avoid feeding in too much LPG as ADDING TOO MUCH LPG MAY DAMAGE THE ENGINE. Tinley Tech cannot be held responsible for damage caused by incorrect tuning.

This is like using easy start on a cold diesel, to much and knocks like hell, and could cause damage

My Ford Maverick had an LPG conversion when I bought it. The Maverick did around 27 mpg on diesel and around 35 mpg with the LPG on. It didn't use much LPG to be honest. I used to get 4 80 Litre diesel fills to 1 50 Litre LPG fill. Where it did count was on power, when the LPG was turned on it was like driving with another engine fitted! it made so much difference in power, the trade off was less diesel used.
