My heating takes a decade to get warm and even when it does its not that warm. Any suggestions as I swear my old disco same age had really good heating.

200 or 300tdi? Try changing the thermostat first. Just replaced mine before winter and heater gets nice and toasty :) although the heated seats help a lot while it is getting warm. Temp gauge usually starts to register within 5 miles and heaters are warm ish by then. Once upto temp its fine.
Could be a blocked heater matrix as well, but try the stat first (it's easier and cheaper)

+ 2 for thermostat replacement.
Had the same on my Disco1 about 6 years ago, changed the Thermostat and wonderful heat within 2-3 miles every time.

cheers

Did thermostat improve your heating? ive noticed on mine i will be driving for approx 15 mins so the temp is up the half way then i will hear a tapping noise like behind the air con unit (like a mouse running round noise) then it will get hot.
But sometimes it just works straight away on start up obv not red hot but you can tell its getting warm

had the same with mine, been working fine for ages, all the hoses are hot, but suddenly no hot air inside

heater matrix - take the two hoses off, put a garden hose in the top pipe and run it, then stick it in the bottom pipe and run it

fill the system back up and hot air again
