Hi everyone :)

I have a 2002 freelander td4 3dr. Recently i have had a problem with loss of power as if the turbo isnt working. I have changed the air filter, turbo breather filter and fitted the modified crankcase filter. I have also cleaned the maf sensor and the egr valve but it still has loss of power. I have also checked the pipes and they all seem fine. Not really sure what to check next now, some people are saying its the turbo gone others are saying the maf is broken.
Any advice will be greatfully received.

Check the small vacuum pipes from the accumulator to the turbo control valve at the back of the engine. They rub on various other components, especially where they go up under the injector cover.

Unplug the Maf and see if you get any change, cleaning it will not put right an out of spec maf, also clean the MAP sensor for good measure.

I unplugged the maf sensor and it drove pretty much the same, reading up on the maf sensor now and the general opinion is mine is knackered because if it was fine it would have driven worse apparently.

From my limited understanding of the TD4. If the power is restored after the MAF is unplugged, then it's knackered. However it will over fuel so will be thirsty. I could however be talking rubbish as diesels aren't really my thing. Hence I can't fix my own TD4s issues. :(

as if the turbo isnt working.
it's not unknown for a collapsed / blocked catalytic converter to do that

if you think it's turbo related .. other things to check ..
vacuum hoses ( as mentioned above ) .. and the turbo vacuum tank ( 'blimp' )
map sensor
turbo vacuum solenoid
turbo vane actuator
leaking intercooler hose ( usually produces much black exhaust smoke )

one poster had a power loss related to the turbo
turned out that their turbo solenoid filter had become waterlogged ..
filter was hanging too low .. and vehicle had been driven thru heavy rain ..
and standing water on the road
( can also apply to the air filter and maf sensor should a load of water get sucked into the air intake .. rare .. but it has happened )

Checked the vacuum pipes and a few have perished badly, new pipes ordered, managed to snap a connector off the vacuum tank aswel so new one ordered aswel, should all be here by thursday so fingers crossed will be fitted and sorted on the weekend :) if not back to the drawing board lol

Well the pipes have been changed and the new tank is on, all intercooler pipes are ok and im getting vacuum as far as the turbo :) just taken it for a spin with high hopes but my hopes were briken after 100 yards, still no power, seems fine until around 2000-2500 rpm then its sluggish :-(, i have also noticed the fuel pump on the nearside wing by the ecu and fuel filter buzzes loudly when the ignition is turned on but only stops when the engine is started, is it supposed to do this? I have never noticed it before.
