Hi all I hope someone can help.
I have a p38 autobiography 4.6 2001. Model, I am driving along when all of a sudden I seem to get the felling that the car is misfiring, so back of the peddle and she come back to normal. Also if I were to kick down the car would go then I would get a lot of rev's but seem to be going nowhere.

Not sure about the engine misfiring part, but revs and no drive sounds like a gearbox issue. When was the oil last changed/topped up? Does it require any excessive revs to mount a curb?

Hi thanks for you input, just had a full service and there is no problem with normal running it is just when I need the extra power.

Thanx

Did they change or just top up the gearbox oil? Changing gives an indication of its condition. The 4.6 gearbox is much stronger than that fitted to the 4.0 and 2.5 so I would be surprised if it's busted, although what mileage are you on?

I'm afraid I know next to nothing about the V8 asides from they seem to overheat a lot :p But give it a few hours and someone will definitely get a decent diagnosis to you :)

Put it on diag to check for engine problems. But if it drops a gear on kick down and the revs rise but little or no increase in speed sounds like clutch 'A' slipping to me.

Hi just to keep you updated, Problem now fixed, it turned out to be the fuel pump.
Thanks for your help and hope you can help again if I have anther problem that I cannot fix.

Thanks all
