Hi all. Currently on holiday in sunny Devon and have developed a problem with my td5. Put my foot down and suddenly its like it revs then drops then revs then drops. This kept happening then it suddenly cleared but now seems to not let me go above 3000 revs. Like its holding back. Is this the dreaded oil in wiring loom again?
Cheers in advance guys.

check a turbo hose isn't collapsing when rev'd as they do DE-laminate

with ignition off pull ecu plugs and look for oil

Or of course the joys of injector washers- symptom wise Ratty is best to ask as he has had a range of running faults.

check the plug at the throttle position sensor too... a live data reading on the important sensors while it's doing it would be relevant.

Where's the throttle position sensor plug though?

Is connected to the end of the pedal

Had a look yesterday at the wiring harness and found a tiny amount of oil at the ecu. Nothing like I found last time. Cleaned all out but still same. Noticed though that if I build up speed steadily to around 2800 revs then floor it its fine. Just seems to do it if I floor it straight away like if I need to get out a junction quick. Will check the throttle position this morning.

D2's sometimes suffered from fuel lines chafing at one point on the chassis .. can't remember exactly where, but it could be this. Fine when you build up, but when you need a lot, the fuel lines open slightly letting air in and not actually giving enough fuel to satisfy demand.

I'm sure I read on the forum where exactly to look ...

Bit of an update. Drove home from Devon to the midlands today and car ran fine 3/4 of the way then whilst cruising at 70 it stated doing it again. Like kangarooing then loss of power again. Limped rest of way home. Been having a mess this afternoon. Found wastegate rod quite stiff. Can move it if I put quite a lot of force on it. Have read that it should just move really easily almost flap around. Is that right?
