Hey all

Just thinking I'd bounce something off ya...

I have a freelander 2002 TD4 (75k). I'm having an issue that i loose power (good bit but i can still accellerate but slowly) at 2000-2800 rpm. While this happens i get a massive cloud of black smoke.

I'm guessing its either the injectors or the turbo? It wasn't doing it initially when it was cold, but now its worse and doing it all the time. I've also experienced on a very cold morning, its slow to start and blows out a decent puff of smoke - think blueish

Background;
I've serviced it always myself and should be up to date. the only thing i probably should do which hasn't being done since i brought it second hand was replacing the turbocharger boost control solenoid valve vent filter.
I had an issue with the fuel pump (one by the filter) needing a tap to work again and allow the car to start about 4 months ago (they're both on the long finger!)

If it is the turbo or the injectors, i don't really have time to fix these, so plan to give it to a LR service garage, as i assume they can plug in and it should show in the diagnostics and fix it quicker then myself.

So my main question is, do you think it could be the pump or the turbo valve filter causing it, is it worth doing this first to see if it fixes the problem or should i just drop it into the garage.

What's your thoughts??

Thanks in advance
Simon
