Hi all,

I've got myself a lovely 17yr old disco which is a joy to drive but recently and break light on the dash started coming on I checked the break fluid and it needed a top up which made the light go out so I was a happy bunny. But it's now happened a few more times and the break fluid level keeps dropping. I don't have any problems braking and the fluid is taking about a week to 10 days but it's beginning to make mr a little nervous now and with a 5 week old baby I don't wanna take any risks.

I dint know much about cars so have no idea what this could be or where to look, I don't know any trustworthy mechanics so don't wanna get taken for a ride at a garage.

It's a cracking car that I can't stop driving but the wife has just used the "if you love me you won't drive it till it's fixed" line on me!

Any suggestions?

Hi Daryl,

Your location would be a good place to start if you are looking for some assistance. We are good at many things on here but we haven't passed the mind reading and crystal ball courses yet lol

Lol cheers Dave, miles from Durham unfortunately Newbury in Berkshire. and there was me thinking every landrover comes with a crystal ball........

You end up with a crystal ball or 2 when you swing the hammer and miss out of frustration. After all it is a Landrover :)

Start a thread asking if anyone is near Newbury...If the lads can help they will.

Have you been under the car and checked for visible external leaks?

Have you checked the bottom of the servo under where the master cylinder attaches for fluid?

Have you checked inside the car where brake rod comes thru bulkhead ( wet rod or wet carpet )

Hi Daryl, you've said that you don't know much about cars and getting the brakes working right is about as serious as it gets - take it to a garage and let someone qualified sort it out for you.
