You've had new discs and the old pads refitted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By a garage :eek::eek: Get new pads and anti rattle shims and retaining pins fitted by a proppa garage.

they said the pads wernt tht worn, said the previous owner must hav put new pads on (only had landy 6 months) before i got it. didnt think tht was a bit off tho. mine the pins, theres no springs in them tho? looking at retainers and some have springs and some dont ?????

Yes, if they're the type that are retained by pins, there should be some coil springs which go over the pins to push the pads apart. I think my retaining pins, springs and split pins came in the kit with my brake pads. Another thing that happens is that the friction material comes off the metal backing plate of the brake pad, which adds a whole new dimension to the rattlyness. You can only really tell if they're separating like this by getting them out and having a look.

When you fit the springs, stick a washer on each end or the springs will try and twist through the holes in the pads.

And smear them with CopperSlip before you put them back together.

Cant believe a garage has fitted old pads with new discs, sure fire way to score up the new discs nice and quickly! For the estra cost of a £20 I would have done pads, infact I wouldn't even entertain the idea of old pads with new discs!!
