Hello.

I'm in the middle of working on my p38 2.5 tdi 1988 and i can't find were to refill the gearbox oil.

Is there a plug at the front of the engine end or at the rear of the box, left hand side as you look from the front of the car or left hand side?

Is it behind what looks like some type of boxing out?

All i want to do is top up after changing radiator but just cant see were when laying under the car.

just looked in the disco haynes manual.... it says fill through the dipstick hole... on rhs of engine check level in p with engine running.... 0.25 litres from low to high on dipstick.

yours may be similar

Hello,

I'm looking at topping up my gearbox oil.
Iv'e never heard of a dipstick hole for gearbox......lol.
As for checking level with engine running, someones on drugs.....lol

i just assumed it was an auto box, seeing how you said you needed to top up after changing radiator... i know some autos have an oil cooler in the rad . but you dont seem to apreciate someone going out of their way trying to respond to your plea for quick help... you just appear to be an ignorant ungrateful arsehole.

The P38 wasn't built, or even designed in 1988!

Is it a P38 with a BMW 6 pot diesel, or is it a Range Rover Classic with a converted TDi?

wot he sed maybe theres a lot of drugs going around. The level needs to be checked with the injun running in p. Think some early p38 had a dipstick and the later ones dont. Not sure how to check the oil on the newer ones. The rr section will have the answer
