Yes I made a note to ask the controle technique person so we know it is actually an option.
The flimsyness of the bumper with high pricetag is what makes me really hesitate to get a new one.
Outrageous price/quality ration. Combining two damaged ones, if you can find them !, is probably bot for me, too much hassle
As Sherlock Holmes would say, re making one out of two damaged ones, "when all possibilities are ruled out then the impossible becomes the only solution".
Could not agree more about how daft it is to have something so flimsy on a 4x4.
If you do get a new one i'd be tempted to put it on for the "controle technique" then take it off again and replace it with the old one, to avoid it all happening again. (Naughty, naughty!)

I have watched this myself as I was thinking of repairing mine before getting the steel one, Question , how do Defender get through the test if they have steel bumpers

It's all a question of what was fitted from the factory. In the UK you can modify your car and it will still pass an MOT. but in France, if the car is not as it was originally built, or parts replaced like with like, then it won't pass, even though the replacement part is as safe, if not more so, than the original.
Sad but just the way it is.
We are so lucky in the UK as far as all this is concerned.
So Defenders pass provided they haven't been modified either.
