Good afternoon,

Looking for a front bumper for a Landrover discovery series 2 TD5, built in 2000, no foglights, headlight sprayers. Chassis number of car is SALLTGM94YA255954. Can anybody provide with good sources for a second hand bumper or good aftermarket product ?. Based in France. My trusted store FAMOUSFOUR, has the new ones of course but incredibly expensive. Thinking of selling the car, car passed the control technique except for the front bumper, it is too damaged and can not sell it with passing the test to a private person.

Thanks and Best regards

Fair do's, I know they can be hard to get on France mainland - I've had to have bits posted over in the past when things have gone awry whilst over there. SWMBO was not a happy bunny when the passenger window reg failed, down!

Nor was I when mine went. Pushed it up and jammed it there with a structure of wood and thin metal! Bit fiddly to fix but luckily I had a spare in blighty.:)

Hi Stan, in the Tarn !, near Cordes
Right, you're close enough then, He's in Labastide-Rouairoux II'll post his address website etc in a mo.
Here you go

A dutch guy called Rob runs it.
When I had an accident a couple of years ago he sold me an axle and two doors, fitted them and managed to fettle a fitting on the chassis to take the front of a rear trailing arm.
He has tons of Disco spares and he and Pascal the mechanic are decent guys.
Best of luck!:):):)

If the worse comes to the worse you may be able to replace it with a winch bumper or something, but if that is against the law in France.......?
How badly damaged is it? Mine is a bit damaged underneath where the previous owner dragged it over a hidden tree stump, but I have yet to repair it.
Plastic can be repaired.
Just saying.

It is bad, have patched it up for a number of years with black ducktape, and no problems with the 2 yearly contole technique. Only thing bad about teh car, it has been maintained well. But this time they sad no, too badly damaged and dangerous when in an accident. I never understood why LR made them from this material for true utility vehicle, it is crap. Onky reason i can think of is regulations and hence a heavy metal one not allowed ? Saw the winch one at famousfour, the best parts supplier I have worked with thus far. Excellent service nd fast shipping.

been there I spent a few years looking for a reasonably priced front bumper gave up this year and fitted a steel 5mm one, easy to fit and I have the option of fitting winch if I want to

hi yes there is a opening at the top but because i did not fit a winch, it discreet, if I wanted to fit a winch I would need to cut alot more of the rad
grill away

I would have a word with either Rob that I mentioned before, or your normal Control Technique guy. As always in France it'll depend on his interpretation of the rules. But as we know, in France if there is a lack of "conformité" he may be forced to fail it.
Have you rung Rob to see if he has any?

Hi Stan, I emailed him and he does not have any used ones left he said but could sell me a new one for about 500 euros which is roughly what Famour Four asks for a new one. I am going to look a bit more for a second hand one and then decide new original one or the winch one.

I suppose it is obvious really that there are bound to be a lot of damaged ones out there. they are so flimsy and vulnerable. Maybe you could get two damaged ones, damaged at opposite ends and then cut and shut them. Plastic welding isn't too difficult according to what I have seen, although I haven't tried it myself. But if you got one off Rob you would at least save on the postage!
As for the winch one, I think you realise you'll have to get that checked out with the Controle Technique guy else it could be an expensive mistake to make.
Best of luck with it all.

Yes I made a note to ask the controle technique person so we know it is actually an option.
The flimsyness of the bumper with high pricetag is what makes me really hesitate to get a new one.
Outrageous price/quality ration. Combining two damaged ones, if you can find them !, is probably bot for me, too much hassle

I have watched this myself as I was thinking of repairing mine before getting the steel one, Question , how do Defender get through the test if they have steel bumpers
