Morning all, I’m looking for recommendations for a slide hammer to use to remove the injectors on my 05 RRS 4.2 s/c.
I’ve seen them advertised for around £65 with a slight bend to them. I was wondering what experience folks have had and whether the ‘bent’ version is what’s required for access.

thanks in advance

steve

They are pushed in with an oring, you shouldn't need to use an injector puller to get them out? :)
You could squirt a little oil onto the base of the injector and work it about if they are stuck?.

OK, sorry I should have realised it was petrol:oops: Getting a duff injector out of a Tdci was a nightmare.
I had to do injector seals on a 1.6 tdci (the ford/psa one). After a lot of cursing I found the studs have a shoulder halfway down and using the male torx head made for very good injector pullers

You'll be looking at this kind of form when you pull them out. A smudge of oil on the oring when they or the new ones go back in.
Why are you pulling them? ;)

Are there coil packs on the engine?
If so move n°1 to n°2 and see if the misfire goes with it. If not try moving a spark plug or even measuring the plugs resistance with a good one to compare results.
Does the engine run any differently at a higher engine speed?

Hi Mark,
I’ve yet to roll my sleeves up, it does have coil packs - it has new spark plugs. I will do some coil pack checking and swapping. It’s. It not misfiring at all on idle. It does smell like it’s running very rich.
I will hopefully be able to do some diagnosis this weekend. I will spray some QuickStart to check for inlet leaks and see how we get on.
There were cylinder 5 and 6 codes fault relating to injector problems which are currently cleared - although I’ve driven nowhere since clearing them so there has probably been insufficient time.

I will update when there is more info - assuming I have any:) - more likely more questions!
