Hi there. I've got a Land Rover 2.5 diesel in my narrowboat - the number stamped on it is HRC 1474 and I am in desperate need of a service manual for it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Silly place to park a land rover... Bet thats a real pig trying to take for a service and a tune up ...lol

Sorry mate best get a haynes manual and see if that helps or just a book about diesal engines

forget about the Haynes, there's loads of info on the internet.

On this forum and others...

what you after exactly?
is there a problem with the engine?

There are problems with the engine - there is a fine mist of oil coming out of the exhaust, although not blue or black smoke, and I use lots of water - but I just need to know more about it so I can service it and keep it running well. Marine engine mechanics are few and far between hereabouts and the ones we've got charge an arm and a leg and don't seem to do much good.

Probably the first time its ever been said about a 2.5 N/A but isn't that a bit overpowered? For a narrow boat anyway. Most of them seem to run 1.5 BMC's
