Loctite 243??? for caliper bolts?

Hi guys a quick q? I am about to do discs and pads on 98 300tdi, I understand I need to use threadlock on the caliper bolts and also the bolts that secure the disc to the hub.

Is loctite 243 the correct threadlock to use?

Just want to be careful with brakes, I like being able to stop.....
 
Yes it is.

Apply a very small blob to about the 3rd thread from the bottom of the bolt, then copper grease the rest trying not to contaminate the locktite at the bottom. This ensures you can get the fecker off again, but at the same time is locked up.

I personally don't ever use locktite on caliper bolts. I just do them up, check them and I have never had an issue. You would hear the caliper jump if they started to get loose so you would get warning.
 
Discomania, thansk for the reply, so to recap, you put loctite and copper grease on the disc bolts, but no threadlock on the caliper bolts?

Sorry, i forgot you mentioned the disc bolts too. If you want to use loctite, use a little bit on all the bolts involved, but follow that up with CG, that stops moisture getting in and stops corrosion setting in making things really diffifult when you want.

I tend not to use it on the caliper bolts ever as they are bi-hex and even with a good bi-hex socket, after years of use they can be pretty tight and then you have issues getting good purchase on the bolts. I have seen myself having to weld a nut onto a caliper bolt to enable me to get it out. They only use bi-hex here so there are more possibilities of getting it on and getting a good turn at it in the tight space.
